John Vercher
CEO, CDO & TECHNICAL ARCHITECT
The Origin Story
I’ve always lived at the intersection of heavy engineering logic and high-fidelity visual art. My passion is building the tools, shaders, and architectures that allow creatives to build massive, immersive worlds without being bottlenecked by technical limitations.
From Tabletop to Tech
My path started with a red beard, a messy desk full of 3D-printed miniatures, and a deep obsession with the "hard magic" systems of authors like Brandon Sanderson. Whether I was modeling terrain for a tabletop campaign or running the day-to-day operations of Vercher Enterprises, I found myself constantly asking: How can I make this system more efficient? That curiosity led me from the precision of a laboratory environment to the world of software development. I realized that the same logic I used to establish the rules of magic in my novels—like the blood-based systems in Project Crimson—could be applied to building robust, interactive systems in C++ and React.
Where I’m Heading
Currently, I’m bridging that gap by developing everything from custom software to mobile apps like Questfire. This August, I’m taking the next big step by starting my degree in Simulation and Game Design at MGCCC. I believe that truly understanding narratology—the "why" behind a story—is exactly what makes me a better architect of the "how." I’m not just building code; I’m building the foundations for the next generation of immersive worlds.
The Off-Clock Version
When I'm not deep in a codebase, you’ll probably find me in Gulfport with my wife and son, likely brainstorming a new sci-fi universe or plotting a rebel uprising for my latest writing project, City of Silence.
